Hello Kitty is coming to the big screen in 2019, marking the first time that the mouthless cat (thanks Jezebel ), will appear in a feature film.
The project will be financed and produced by the new US subsidiary wing of Japanese company Sanrio. There is reportedly a budget of around $200m.
Few details have been revealed about the film, but considering the cat's wide interests (travelling, listening to music, reading, eating cookies, making new friends and collecting small, cute objects as her Facebook page reads), the plot will hopefully see Kitty White take on a wild adventure full of bow-shaped hair accessories.
The cat turned 40 this year, and is still as popular as she was when she was first launched in 1974. Last year, she was estimated to have made $7 million
She has starred on numerous products, from bags and pyjamas to tampons and vibrators (seriously), and has appeared in numerous TV shows and video games. She also recorded an album, Hello World, in 2009.
Our minds were blown last summer when it was revealed that Hello Kitty is NOT a cat. Life has not been the same since.
